The Google RISE program <g.co/riseawards> will be accepting applications from July 28-Sept. 23 from organizations seeking to increase equity in computer science education through extracurricular programs for pre-university students.

Program components include:

  • Access to a 12-month capacity building program that connects awardees with Google expertise

  • Financial support to reward great work ($10,000-$25,000)

  • Operational support depending on the needs of the organization, such as volunteers or pro bono consulting

  • Peer engagement through a community of practice that connects awardees and alumni

Additionally, the RISE program analyzes over 1000 applications per year to understand the global landscape of CS education, and helps scale solutions by amplifying stories so that other communities around the world can benefit from the awardees’ successes and lessons learned.

Since 2010, RISE has benefited 200 organizations across 40 countries and reached over 1 million students.

FSM students are eligible to apply for the following scholarship for 2016-2017:
  • Any FSM citizen is eligible (not just students from Pohnpei)
  • $1,000 per semester
  • Deadline:  July 1, 2016

YOUNG Ruatoria woman Hariata Dalton-Reedy is one of five winners of Ngarimu VC and 28 (Maori) Battalion memorial scholarships.

The scholarship was established in 1948 in honour of 28 Maori Battalion and supports the education of young people earmarked as future Maori leaders.

“New Zealand Scholarships are prestigious scholarships for international students from developing countries to study in New Zealand and the Pacific. YAP & CHUUK, FSM (Embassy of the PRC in the FSM, March 18, 2016) — From February 3rd to 11th, DCM and Counsellor Li Cuiying visited Yap and Chuuk States to announce 2016/2017 Chinese Government Scholarship Program on six campuses[, such] as College of Micronesia-Yap, FSM Fisheries and Maritime [Institute], Yap High School, Yap Seventh Day High School, College of Micronesia-Chuuk and Xavier high school.

…meanwhile, she gave speeches on China development and bilateral relations between China and FSM. Nearly 500 students and teachers attended the presentation.

bipc-logo-colorHigh school and college students wanting to pursue careers in journalism or related fields, including television, film, and digital media have until April 8 to submit a scholarship application. Applications must be postmarked by this date.Scholarship recipients will be selected in April and our annual scholarship dinner will be held May 5 at the Seaside restaurant in Hilo. Last year, BIPC awarded a total of $4,600 to six Hawaii Island students at its annual scholarship dinner.

Eligibility:

  • have Big Island residential ties
  • demonstrate an interest in journalism or related career
  • be enrolled as a full-time student
  • show a record of academic achievement

POHNPEI, FSM (Embassy of the PRC in the FSM, March 16, 2016) — 2016 Chinese Government Scholarship Program was announced on March 16th at the Campus of the PICS High School-FSM. Ambassador Li Jie and Principal of PICS High School, Kenio Frank attended.

Ambassador Li Jie made a remark on China Development and the bilateral relationship between China and FSM and donated some books and sports facilities to the school. There are over 300 students attended this presentation.
